FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your pieces handmade?

Yes. Every piece is handmade in my New Zealand studio, from throwing and trimming through to glazing and firing. Because of this, small variations in shape, glaze movement, and surface texture are part of what makes each piece unique.

Why do your glazes vary from piece to piece?

Glaze is wonderfully unpredictable. Even when I use the same glaze combination, factors like thickness, placement in the kiln, layering, and firing can create different results. I embrace those variations because they give each piece its own personality.

Are your ceramics food safe?

Yes, all functional ware is made with food-safe glazes unless otherwise stated in the product description.

Are your pieces dishwasher and microwave safe?

Most pieces are dishwasher safe, though hand washing is always gentler and helps preserve the finish over time. Microwave suitability will be noted on individual listings where relevant.

Do you take custom orders?

Occasionally. I open limited custom commissions throughout the year depending on studio capacity. The best place to hear about openings is through Instagram or my email list.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently I primarily ship within New Zealand, though international shipping may be available for selected releases. If you’re overseas and interested in a piece, feel free to get in touch.

Why does my piece look slightly different from the website photos?

Ceramics can photograph differently depending on lighting and screen settings, especially layered glazes with movement and texture. I do my best to capture colours accurately, but slight variations are normal.

What if my order arrives damaged?

If your piece arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours with photos of the packaging and item so I can help sort it out as quickly as possible.

Do you teach pottery or glazing?

I share glazing education online for beginner potters who want to better understand glaze behaviour, layering, and creating more intentional results without feeling overwhelmed by technical jargon.

Why are some collections limited?

Most collections are released in small batches because everything is made by hand in a small studio. Some glaze results are also difficult to recreate exactly, which means certain pieces or finishes may only appear once.

What inspires your work?

A lot of my work is inspired by coastlines, shifting landscapes, natural textures, and the way glazes move and interact during firing. I’m especially drawn to pieces that feel organic, layered, and a little imperfect.

Do you sell glaze recipes?

Not currently. My focus is more on helping potters understand glaze behaviour and layering techniques using the glazes they already have access to.
